The KEF SP1749BA Dented 5.25" Bass Driver Woofer (R2 Meta R5) is a testament to KEF's unwavering commitment to audio excellence, even in slightly imperfect conditions. Despite a minor cosmetic dent, this woofer retains all the features that make KEF a leading name in the world of high-fidelity audio.
The SP1744BA woofer is part of KEF's Uni-Q series, a revolutionary design that places the tweeter in the acoustic center of the midrange and bass cones, providing a more accurate three-dimensional soundstage. This particular model, the R2 Meta R5, is an upgrade from the R2 Meta R4, offering improved bass extension, higher sensitivity, and a smoother frequency response.
The 5.25" woofer cone is made of Meta Material, a KEF-exclusive material that is lighter and stiffer than traditional materials, reducing distortion and improving efficiency. The Uni-Q design, combined with Meta Material, results in a sound that is detailed, dynamic, and immersive.
The SP1749BA woofer also features a low-loss rear-firing port for improved bass performance and extended low-frequency response. Its high-quality build and robust construction ensure reliable performance, even under heavy use.
Though this SP1749BA woofer has a minor cosmetic dent, it does not affect its performance or sound quality. It still delivers the exceptional audio experience that KEF is renowned for. Whether you're setting up a home theater system, a high-end stereo, or a custom installation, this dented KEF SP1749BA woofer is a great addition to your audio setup, offering exceptional sound quality at a more affordable price.
1. Renowned Brand: KEF is a well-respected manufacturer known for its high-quality audio products. This speaker is a part of the SP1749BA series, which is praised for its clarity and powerful bass.
2. Advanced Technology: The R2 Meta R5 driver technology offers improved accuracy and reduced distortion, ensuring a more immersive and detailed listening experience.
3. Price Discount: Since the speaker is dented, it is likely to be sold at a lower price, making it a potential cost-effective choice for those seeking high-quality speakers.
Cons:1. Cosmetic Damage: The dented condition may affect the aesthetic appeal of the speaker. However, it's essential to note that cosmetic issues do not necessarily impact the performance of the speaker.
2. Limited Warranty: Due to the cosmetic damage, the warranty might be void or limited, which means any potential issues post-purchase might not be covered by the manufacturer.
3. Potential Quality Concerns: While it's unlikely, the dent could potentially have caused internal damage to the speaker, which might affect its performance over time.
Ending Conclusion:The KEF SP1749BA Dented 5.25 Bass Driver Woofer (R2 Meta R5) offers a unique opportunity to own a high-performance speaker at a potentially lower cost. However, the cosmetic damage and potential warranty issues are important factors to consider. Before making a purchase, it's recommended to thoroughly inspect the speaker for any internal issues and discuss the warranty situation with the seller. If you're comfortable with these factors, this dented KEF speaker could be a great addition to your audio system. If not, it might be worth considering a new, non-dented model.
The dents are inconspicuous at normal listening distances. Impedance of the individual driver is 8. Multiple small dents but not punctured through. Since this is a bass driver / woofer for lower frequencies, which aren't affected by small surface deviations, it still sounds identical to before.
Compatible with R2 Meta, R5 Meta; probably retrofit table to R2c, R5, and other 5.25 driver cabinets. Removed from my R2 Meta.
